Teaching Young Children About Emotions During Shared Book Learning

Thursday, October 10 | 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm | Glenwood City Public Library

This event will teach parents and guardians how to have conversations about emotions with their preschooler or kindergartner, using shared picture book reading.  Picture storybooks that explore the topics of sadness and anxiety in engaging, yet sensitive, ways will serve as the basis for these conversations around emotions.  Each family that attends the event will receive a free set of four picture books, including Taco Falls Apart and Avocado Feels a Pit Worried.  Parents will also be given a brochure that summarizes the shared picture book reading strategies, as a reminder of ways to share the books with children at home.  Each family will also receive a book for parents that talks about how to have conversations with children about mental health.

  • The first 30 families will receive a book kit.
  • Pizza and Drinks will be provided
  • Child Care Provided
